My name is Aleksandra Petkova and I am

A bird, flying through fields and over homes. I land where the tulips meet the sea and stop for a minute to look around. The wind and grass dance together, and the sea breeze carries laughter.  My eyes wander and note all the joy and beauty they see.  My heart races as thoughts of home flood my mind.

My work is a collection and reflection on emotions, relationships, culture and politics. What I do is influenced by my love and my fears. My love for my home and family, and my fears of loss.

I strive to learn, reflect, criticise and educate through my work, so I may one day make a positive change to the world.

My findings can be found in small publications and zines, experimenting with the ways I visualise and convey messages, so the viewer is intrigued. I turn my feelings, impressions and thoughts into visual poetry. I feel most connected to traditional techniques like pencils, aquarelle, or printmaking, due to their textures. Risograph is my preferred choice of printer.
